Fellow Citizens,
Thanks to the four relatively strong candidates, with Hedy Fry being the weakest, Adrian Carr is likely to become Canada's first elected Green MP. On the CBC panel X-encounter (on the environment), a voting panel of four party nominees were vying for Vancouver Centre (with Dossanjh substituting for Fry). The audience was comprised of people selected to represent a recent BC poll of party preference: 40% Conservative; 26% NDP, 20% Liberal, 13% Green.
After five questions with in-depth discussion of each, followed by an audience vote on each, a final vote was called for:
"If the election were held today, for whom would you vote?"
Response: 47% Carr 21% Mayencourt 16% Liberal 16% Byers (NDP)
Vote for the Environment is doing a disservice to us all in this riding if it stays with Fry. I say this as someone who will vote Liberal in my own riding (Quadra) because I know the Green does not have a chance and the Conservative has a strong chance.
But to throw away the chance to finally elect a Green to Parliament is a mistake by Vote for Env.
